Alfa 147 2.0 Selespeed problem

#1
Hello there,

Been experiencing some technical problems with Selespeed gear. Main thing that it's the second time I park the car and getting the Selespeed System Failure error after I try to turn it on. The First time about three weeks ago it was stuck there on N gear with no possibility to switch to R or 1. Althought it did start and the engine was running. I tried to reset the ECU by removing the "-" from the battery and still no help. Had to call to PilotMotors to get a person to help me tow the car back to the service. He tried to examine the problem at place with his examiner but nothing showed up. So after towing back the car to the service they said they spent 2 hours by reseting the car with the examiner and recalibrating it. They didn't find the source of the problem.

Yesterday the same thing happend to the car at the Airport but now when I put the key into the ignition it's somehow on a "R" gear and the car engine doesn't turn on so I cannot tow the car as I did last time.

I have 2 questions, first is there any people who have their own examiner who could reset the car at place so I could try to drive it to the service. Second question are there any good specialist who might find the cause of the problem.

In any case, leaving my telephone number:

Is the hydraulic pump working normally? Maybe pump motor brushes are worn. If you open drivers door or turn ignition on you must hear it under the bonnet. If pump runs erratic you should check its electric motor. Pump failure is often caused by faulty hydraulic accumulator. You don't need examiner, a simple obd usb cable and fiat ecuscan software will do the job. You can also check the oil pressure changing when changing gears with the program. There is also a counter for unsuccsesful gearshift, changing mechanism may get stuck at some point and ecu displays an error. Check for leaks and oil level.

It is worth checking if the gear that displays is actually engaged, if not there may be a faulty gear selector position sensor. There is also a little possibility that ECU has gone mad.
